STIRLING CASTLE, DOUNE CASTLE AND BANNOCKBURN
Full-day tour visiting the magnificent Stirling and Doune Castles along with Bannockburn Visitor Centre.
Tour Highlights
Stirling Castle – The magnificent castle dates from the early 12th century however, most of the buildings date from the 15th and 16th centuries when it was the principal royal residence of the Stewart Kings of Scotland. The wonderfully restored royal apartments and museums celebrate the lives of its former inhabitants.
Doune Castle – The wonderfully preserved castle was built in the late 14th century by Robert Stewart, 1st Duke of Albany and Regent of Scotland. Mary, Queen of Scots stayed at the castle several times occupying a suite of rooms above the kitchen. Ivanhoe, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and more recently the popular TV series Outlander were all filmed at Doune.
Bannockburn – Scene of one of the most decisive battles of the Wars of Scottish Independence, it was here that the army of King Robert I of Scotland, ‘Robert the Bruce‘ defeated King Edward II of England in 1314.
Departure
From your Edinburgh accommodation or a pre-arranged location. Ordinarily we’ll depart Edinburgh at 08:30am and return around 17:30pm however, this can be agreed at the time of booking.
Cost
The cost of this full-day private guided sightseeing tour for up to six adults or children is £425.00 which includes all planning, tour guide and transport costs.
