TERMS & CONDITIONS - 2022

Before booking a tour with Borders Journeys, I recommend that you take a few minutes to read over our terms and conditions.

Payment

Reservations will only be confirmed on receipt of the agreed deposit or full payment. Full payment is required three full months prior to the start of any tour.

Payments can be paid directly into Borders Journeys’ bank account (bank details will be provided), by sterling cheque or PayPal. Payments by debit or credit cards can be made via PayPal along with any associated fees (instructions will be provided).

For extended tours where an itinerary is individually designed, there is a planning fee of £350.00. Once your tour itinerary has been agreed and tour booked, £175.00 will be deducted from your tour balance.

Cancellations, Refunds & Charges

If Borders Journeys cancels any tours, a full refund will be given.

Any booked tours with Borders Journeys must be cancelled in writing or by email. Emails should be sent to Ian@bordersjourneys.co.uk  

Please note that telephone calls and text or WhatsApp messages will not be accepted as a form of communication when cancelling a tour.

Cancellation

Private day tours

More than three months prior to the scheduled tour departure time – refund of the deposit minus 50% to cover administrations costs will be given

One to three months prior to the scheduled tour departure time – 50% refund of the full tour balance minus administrations costs will be given

Under one month prior to the scheduled tour departure time – no refund.

Private extended tours

More than three months prior to the scheduled tour departure time – refund of the deposit minus 50% to cover administrations costs will be given

One to three months prior to the scheduled tour departure time – 50% refund of the full tour balance minus administrations costs will be given

Under one month prior to the scheduled tour departure time – no refund.

Extended group tours

22 to 28 days prior to the scheduled departure – full refund minus 25% to cover administrations costs will given or 25% charge for the agreed fee will be charged

15 to 21 days prior to the scheduled departure – 50% refund or 50% charge for the agreed fee will be charged

Less than 15 days – no refund or 100% charge for the agreed fee will be charged.

Where a deposit has been paid but not the full fee, the refund is based on the full agreed fee for the tour. Please note that any deposits that Borders Journeys has paid in advance on behalf of a client as part of the tour and a refund cannot be made to the company; these deposits will be deducted from any refund due. 

Tours

All passengers must be pre-booked on any Borders Journeys tour. No un-booked passenger(s) can be picked-up during the course of any tour.

No concessions are available on any tour.

Children are welcome on Borders Journeys’ tours; however, it is solely the accompanying adult(s) responsibility to ensure the safety of any children at all times. It is the accompanying adult(s) responsibility to supply appropriate child seats as required by law. 

Insurance

Borders Journeys is insured to carry passengers; however, we are not liable for any personal property lost or stolen in or out of our vehicles, or for any accidents outside the vehicle during the course of the tour.

It is recommended that all passengers arrange their own personal property, accident, medical & cancellation insurance.

During the tour

Your tour fee covers all planning, tour guide and transport costs. Your own flights, accommodation, meals, refreshments, any entrance costs and ferry costs are not included.

Please note that during the tour, the tour guide’s accommodation, meals and any entrance costs are not included. These costs can be paid directly by you during the tour or invoiced separately by Borders Journeys at the end of the tour.

Smoking or use of e-cigarettes is not permitted on any Borders Journeys vehicles. There are frequent stops during the tour for passengers who wish to smoke.

The consumption of alcohol is prohibited on any Borders Journeys vehicles.

Borders Journeys reserves the right to refuse to transport any passenger(s) whose behaviour could upset, offend or alarm other passengers.

Please note no refunds or compensation will be given to any passenger(s) who Borders Journeys refuses to transport or asks to leave the vehicle during a tour.

Borders Journeys reserves the right to refuse to transport any passenger(s) who arrives at the start of the tour ill or develops an illness during the tour that could be transmitted to any other passenger(s) or the driver guide.

Please note no refunds or compensation will be given to any passenger(s) who Borders Journeys deems unfit to travel.

Covid-19 / Coronavirus / Pandemics

All passengers must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated to travel on any Borders Journeys tour.

Before travelling, please follow your government’s travel advice along with that of the United Kingdom Government and / or the Devolved Governments of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Borders Journeys will at all times follow any restrictions and laws imposed by United Kingdom Government and / or the Devolved Governments of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. 

During any tour Borders Journeys will only transport family groups or groups of friends. No mixed groups with be transported on any tour. 

Borders Journeys reserves the right to refuse to transport any passenger(s) who arrives at the start of the tour ill or develops an illness during the tour that could be transmitted to any other passenger(s) or the driver guide.

Borders Journeys accepts no responsibility for any outbreak of Covid-19 during any tour. If the tour group is required to isolate during the tour, each passenger is responsible for any costs incurred during their isolation for accommodation, meals and any tests. During the isolation, any accommodation, meals and any test costs incurred by the driver guide will be the responsibility of the tour group along with any losses incurred by Borders Journeys.

Hand sanitiser will be provided throughout the tour. It is strongly recommended that you travel with face masks. 

All walking tours will be conducted under current ‘social distancing’ regulations (currently 2 metres). 

If Borders Journeys cancels any tours, a full refund will be given.

Force Majeure

Borders Journeys does not accept any liability for any loss, inconvenience or damage caused by pandemics, your home government advice not to travel, war, threat of war, riot or civil commotion, terrorist / criminal activities, industrial disputes, natural disasters, fires, sickness, weather conditions, road or traffic conditions, nuclear explosion or radioactive contamination from any nuclear facility or other events beyond the control of Borders Journeys.
